About Us

RoadyHolder

Satellite radio has caught on big in the motorcycling community. The Delphi Roady came out during the Fall of 2003 and has been followed by the Roady 2, the XT, and the MyFi, all of which fit on the Roady Holder.

As can be seen in the photo at right, the Roady, its antenna, and all 21 feet of antenna wire are compactly mounted using the RoadyHolder!

The RoadyHolder lets you mount your Roady on top of a brake or clutch reservoir cover, or with a RAM mount.

To mount on a  reservoir cover, all you have to do is remove two of the existing screws in the reservoir cover, put the supplied spacers on top of the cover, put the RoadyHolder on top of the spacers, and screw in the supplied longer stainless steel screws.

The RoadyHolder is made of electro-galvanized steel that’s been given a double coating of powder-coat paint, so your magnetized antenna sticks firmly to the top shelf that’s built into the RoadyHolder. We’ve also included some Velcro One-Wrap tape that lets you bundle up all 21 feet of antenna cord and then attach it to a piece of Velcro on the back of the RoadyHolder. When you’re done riding, you can quickly move the Roady and its antenna indoors, or over into your car. The Roady itself can be attached to the RoadyHolder with the Delphi-supplied clip.

The RoadyHolder is available in a Standard version to fit most bike reservoir covers with holes spaced between 42-70 millimeters using 4mm screws (this includes BMW K-RS/K-GT/R-R/ R-C/R-RS, Goldwing, FJR, etc.). This version also accepts the R-A-M small diamond ball mount.

Another version has an offset for clearance on certain BMW models only: the LT, RT, and 1150 GS models -- choose the BMW Clutch option to mount the RoadyHolder on the clutch reservoir with the Roady inboard from there, and the BMW Brake option mounts on the brake reservoir, with the Roady inboard.

There’s also a version for the BMW R1100 bikes (the ones with the flat, rectangular reservoir cover -- 1150s take the Standard or Offset version).

We also have a Harley version in Black and Chrome.

The RoadyHolder works with both the Original Roady, the Roady2, the Roady XT, and the MyFi, as well as the Sirius Starmate, Streamer, and Sportster models.

The Roady Raincover

It’s Finally Here!

The Roady Raincover adds the weather protection you’ve asked for. The Roady Raincover is made of 12-gauge vinyl to provide water protection for the Roady while still permitting access to the pushbuttons. The Raincover is custom made to fit over both the Roady and its antenna when using the RoadyHolder. (Does not work if your RoadyHolder is attached to a RAM ball.)

The Roady Raincover is tightened with a drawstring and held by a cordlock. Due to the bottom being open, we don’t claim that the Raincover is waterproof and we will not be held responsible for any damage to your Roady.

Roady Hardwire Kit

The Roady Hardwire Kit is a convenient way to power your Roady. Its small size makes it perfect for use on a motorcycle. In addition to transforming 12 volts to 6 volts (for the Roady 2) or 5 volts (for the Roady XT and MyFi), the Hardwire Kit also removes alternator whine in most cases.

The power leads are 3-feet long & fused, and the XM adapter cord is 6-feet long.

Audio Isolator Cable

When feeding audio signals through another bike-powered device (such as Autocom, bike stereo, etc.), it’s common to get a ground loop that adds unwanted noise. Our six-foot long stereo isolator cables are designed to remove that noise from your system.

Frequently Asked Questions

    Is the Roady waterproof?

No, the Roady radio "head units" are not waterproof. We've developed the Roady Raincover to give motorcyclists a degree of protection from the rain.

Do I need a regular radio to get XM?

No, you do not need another radio to get XM. The Roady radios have a line-out stereo jack that can be used to send a signal directly to a headset, through an Aux-In port on your bike's audio system, etc. The  Roady2 and XT have a built-in FM modulator that will play the XM signal through specified FM channels on your bike's radio. The cassette adapter included with the Roady can also be used to play through your bike's audio system, if you have a cassette player.

Does the Roady have a volume control? How loud is it?

The Roady radios don’t have a true volume control. They has a line-out level, they have an adjustment that can change the output level, and it is accessed from a menu using the tuning wheel. With in-ear speakerplugs, a setting of 3-4 is usually adequate. Regular earbuds may need a higher setting. Helmet speakers may need additional amplification.

I'm getting some alternator noise -- what can I do about it?

You probably need to add one of our stereo isolator cables to remove the ground-loop feedback you're getting.

How can I power my Roady?

The Roady/Roady2 runs on 6 volts. The XT and MyFi run on 5 volts. The cigarette lighter plug that comes with the XM radio has a built-in transformer that steps down your bike's 12 volts to 6 or 5 volts. Do not cut off the cigarette lighter plug and  then connect the remaining wire directly to 12 volts! You can get a female cigarette lighter plug at Radio Shack and connect it to your bike's power and use the Delphi plug. You can also open up the Delphi  cigarette lighter plug, find the correct positive and negative wires inside, and connect that to your bike's power. Or, you can get one of our hardwire kits that can be connected to bike power.

NOTE: It is reported that the Roady transformer draws power even when the unit is off. We recommend connecting your Roady power leads to a switched power source.
